Blog 02: Business Card

Business Card September 20, 2021 Derek McGannon Blog 02 Intro The creation of a business card was fun for me becuase it challenged my skills in InDesign. I found photoshop natural and fun, but InDesign brought about a different way of thinking for me. I wanted to go with a simplistic design that was also tasteful and different. The standard business card is outdated and my goal was to twist the standard design slightly as to not overwhelm a viewer with something completely different. Creation I started with the standard US Business Card size of 3.5'' x 2'' on a blank canvas in InDesign (Vistaprint). With my bleed at .137'', I formatted with a end goal in mind. Staying in inches rather then other measurements makes presentation an easily imaginable picture. With my set up ready, I was ready design. Designing Introducing a photo was my first step. Introduction Welcome reader, you have successfully reached my blog post for COM-1113-01, a Graphic Software Packages class. In this blog I will be narrating my take on many professional techniques to photography. "You’ve got to find the angle that gives you something that really works, or maybe something even better" because "working the shot" is an art form not a science (Kennedy, 2012). Deriving a Theme Working the shot requires a subject that can be looked at completely different at every angle, creating meaning from perspective. This subject or theme is a key starting point and crucial to the creative process.     My theme was derived out of a passion of mine which allowed me to see the subject in a more personal way. The piano is a very intricate instrument that can create pure emotion through sound.
